Writing related research

I didn't do any writing this morning, but did some just as important research.
It's my birthday on monday, not a big one, i'm only going to be 28 and my husband asked what i wanted. I really want a laptop, but as we recently got a Mac at Christmas i want a Macbook.

So this morning i trotted off to all the stores for some research.
After looking around, i came home and went online and back to the shiny ad on the apple website to the iPad.
I have decided...

I am going to get one of those. Just like Maisey Yates i am telling my husband, as he wants one too, i want an iPad complete with the kayboard, the keyboard dock, iPad dock, case, everything that comes with it!

Of course i won't get it until it comes to NZ, but i don't care.

I'M GETTING AN iPAD FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

check out the apple.com website for the rundown on it if you haven't already! You will be
impressed.

Isn't it funny!

You mention to a few people that you are writing a novel and suddenly they are all really interested it what you do.
They want to know the details.

How often do you write? - not often enough
What do you write? - Romance
Have you written lots? Are you hoping to be published? - of course! and i've completed one full length novel but yes written lots for many years but not complete stories.
How do you know what to write? - umm(??? how do you answer that one?)
How do you juggle the kids and housework? - um i just do...and i don't!
Wow, that's so interesting!
Do you get those questions and looks too?

Suddenly, everyday i'm asked how is the writing going. Which is good because it's prompting me to push myself too, motivating me to get to the keyboard more than the two mornings a week than i do at the moment, though it's still hard.
We're landscaping. And i have the kids and endless household chores, not to mention my health, but i am managing to get a bit of writing in every now and then outside of my Tuesday and Thursday morning kid free time slots.
Which reminds me to get back to it, seeing at it's Tuesday ;)

Feeling the love

Thanks for all the encouragement from all my friends and followers :) It means a lot to know people i have never met care how i am going! Thanks.
Putting my head down - doubts and all - pushing through them and just writing is working. The word count is going up. Every day this week i have made a point of sitting down, even if for just five minutes and tapping away at the key board.
Billie is feeling the love, Cooper is being a bit stubborn, but that is true to his character and Billie will whip him into shape soon enough i'm thinking ;) That scene where he whips up something scrummy in the kitchen is coming soon, so we shall see if he can hold out for too much longer, hehe!!

Second guessing...can i do it?

So now i'm nearly at the half way mark in my draft for Ten nights Only, Wow, i'm at 25,000 words! (happy dance!!!!) Now i'm finding myself second guessing myself.
Lying in bed at night or very early in the morning with scenes in my head or conversations between Billie and Cooper - why can't i just sleep? and i'm hoping i can sustain their story for another 25,000 words. Then i start to panic and think OMG i can't do it!

My biggest goal is to finish this draft, to prove to myself that i can finish this story. In order to do that i have to piece together the scenes in my head and the conversations on have in bed and the car and on the way to the park - the kids must think i'm nuts ;) - i'm sure i can sustain it for another 25,000 words.

I am not going to go back and read what i have written just yet, though i am dying to go and delete some already, that will be done and changed AFTER i've finished.

Tell me i'm not the only one with theses doubts!

To fight or give up?

*** SPOILER ALERT ***
After watching Bones last night, i have to ask a question.
Do you prefer your hero to fight for the lady he loves, even if she has rejected him though she clearly loves him right back though is afraid to cross that line? Or like Booth did last night just give up and find someone who will love him calmly without him having to fight?

I found myself staring in a state of shock and confusion and just frustration at the screen when my husband turned the t.v off last night. I wanted Booth to fight for Brennan, to convince her that he is not going to give up. Not just sit back and say that he is deserves someone who will love him. We've been watching this show for 5 season's and i for one have been rooting for them to get together (am i the only one wanting them to?), and for him to step back when she has said she can't change? It is wrong!

What do you think? An alpha male to me would fight, fight with all his worth for that lady he loves, convince her that yes i may be scary, but it is worth it!

Been Absent

I've been absent from writing this week, having a few issues health wise but writing is never far from my mind - how could it be :) i was born to write! - and Billie and Cooper really do want their HEA!
I haven't written a single word this week, not a one. I feel bad, but i have played around with a few scenes in my head, sorted out a few scenarios and conflicts, maybe built things a bit stronger for when i get back into it.
Which i hope to do really soon. Don't think it will be this week though. Have a few things that need doing around the house but who knows, once my daughter finally succumbs to sleep this afternoon i could get in a few hundred words? That would be nice.
But we'll see.
Hope everyone else is going well. The weather here in Hamilton, NZ is a bit drizzly as Autumn is settling in. I love the colours of the leaves, but not the white sky. Looking forward to when winter truly settles in and we can cuddle up by the warm fire :)
Keep Writing!

Alpha issue

Do you think baking is too feminine?
All along it has been clear to me that my hero is a fabulous cook, so it makes sense that he would bake but as yet it hasn't come up in my WIP, but i am coming to a scene where he is going to be in the kitchen and i want to know.... do you think it is too wimpy for an alpha male to make blueberry muffins?

The smell of blueberries haunts him, it is the scent that Billie wears mixed with florals in her perfume and it compels Cooper to make muffins. Do you think it would be better to have the muffins already made and on the bench rather than have him whipping them up?
I am planning on him cooking her a fabulous feast later on that leads to dessert not of the food variety, well he hopes so anyway ;)
What are your thoughts?
