NaNo day 2

Word count today:1,376
First word: Damn
last word: door
Fav Line: (i have too many - or maybe i don't have any!)
Total Nano word count:  1,816

My word count is pitiful in comparison to some of the other NaNoers. Natalie Anderson, one of our very own published kiwis tapped out 4k! I'm going to have to be VERY disciplined to get that kind of word count per day.
But this is a great way to see how much others write daily and a great motivator too! I'm going to push for a much higher word count tomorrow - my day 3, lots of people's day 2.
Billie and Cooper finally had their night, with devastating results! Now Cooper has gone to fix it but found out Billie's big secret...I've left him about to knock on her door.
Oh i hope the words flow because it's getting really intense.
How are you all doing with your WIP's?

Too soon?

Arrrhh!
This is what is running through my head as i am editing and reshaping my first chapter for submitting for the competition.
I knew as i was writing my WIP i would have to edit and rework it but i was hoping to not have to until i'd finished and now i am doing it before i'm finished.
Am i doing it too soon, or will it make it stronger now?
Anyway, i'm cutting out quite a lot from the beginning as it has way too much of that dreaded backstory! Inevitable when you are working with characters who have a past, and a newbie writer :)
Now i'm trying to filter it in so it is more 'present' and makes sense while keeping the tension, and hopefully readable.
What do you think the word count should be for the first chapter? The conditions for the comp said no more than 10,000 but i think this is too many words for a first chapter personally, so do i do half this or do the whole lot???
Arrrhh!!!

Second guessing...can i do it?

So now i'm nearly at the half way mark in my draft for Ten nights Only, Wow, i'm at 25,000 words! (happy dance!!!!) Now i'm finding myself second guessing myself.
Lying in bed at night or very early in the morning with scenes in my head or conversations between Billie and Cooper - why can't i just sleep? and i'm hoping i can sustain their story for another 25,000 words. Then i start to panic and think OMG i can't do it!

My biggest goal is to finish this draft, to prove to myself that i can finish this story. In order to do that i have to piece together the scenes in my head and the conversations on have in bed and the car and on the way to the park - the kids must think i'm nuts ;) - i'm sure i can sustain it for another 25,000 words.

I am not going to go back and read what i have written just yet, though i am dying to go and delete some already, that will be done and changed AFTER i've finished.

Tell me i'm not the only one with theses doubts!

Photo Board

Here it is as promised. Billie Martin and Cooper Wilde, their life in pieces set out for you to see. Well the bare bones of the background and in bits and pieces of where things will happen that is :) (some of them!)
Set in Windy Wellington and having a starring role in Oriental Bay, these two will confront their conflicts and finally get their happily ever after!

I wrote only 200 words yesterday due to daughter being home sick with a cold, no writing as yet today, but hopefully will get some in tonight.

A reason for the lack...

Well thought i would share the good news behind the lack of the word count.
We are on our way to joining the ranks of home ownership!

On Monday late afternoon we put in an offer which was negotiated and then accepted - we now have to wait for all conditions to be accepted and then we move in on 10 Feb!
This is really fast and just in time as we have to be out of our current place by Feb 12th. So the house is covered in boxes and we are furiously packing the cleaning, so alas no word count.
I hope to have this creeping steadily upwards from 23rd Feb onwards.
Billie and Cooper WILL get their HEA, just like we are!

Word Count Meter

Yay. If you care to look to the right you will see my word count meter! If anyone else wants one i got it from Writertopia. I finally figured out how to get it to work.
I feel so proud to be able to display it - even though i still haven't added any actual words to that count yet this year, but our Little Princess is due to start Kindy in a few weeks so with both her and Little Man out of the way for two mornings of the week i shall have plenty of time for writing! Watch that counter bar go up!
Cooper and Billie will finally get a resolution and their Happily Ever After!
So exciting.

Lack of Word Count

Man, it is already the end of the second week of the new year and so far no word count! So much for my goals for 2010:

Ten Nights Only will be finished by March 31. and submitted through normal lines.

Logan's Angel will be finished by June 30. and submitted through normal lines

Secrets and Lies will be reworked and edited and finished by December 31st
.

Or course i had thought i had another goal there too, an as yet untitled Princess story that has been burning in my brain for ages too, so i'll add that now:

Untitled Princess story written and edited by December 31st.

In light of my lack of word count so far, so early into the new year maybe i shouldn't have so many goals afterall. But surely once our housing dramas are over with and hopefully my health improves (snorts!) i can get underway. I will just knuckle down regardless. Will have to pull out the husbands work laptop and pound out the word count every spare minute i have. I really, really want to succeed and only way i will achieve this is to put in the hard work.

After all:
No pain, no gain.
